Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks:

Many of the skills that students are required to demonstrate of can be enhanced through the use of technology. Students can create vodcasts to demonstrate their understanding of material, present research, express their point of view, and demonstrate creativity.

A few examples of how vodcast assignments can be successfully integrated into the MA Foreign Language Curriculum Frameworks are:
  • Presentational Communication 3.11: Give presentations on planned activities or on cultural topics
  • Presentational Communication 3.21: Write or prepare an oral or videotaped report about a personal interest
  • Culture 4.2: Interact appropriately in group cultural activities such as games, storytelling, celebrations and dramatizations
  • Cultural Comparisons 6.8: Compare, contrast, and report on cultural traditions and celebrations
  • Communities 8.4: Apply knowledge of the target language and culture beyond the classroom setting. Eamples of this include locating speakers or scholars of the target language in the community, region, or state and establishing ongoing communication through correspondance, multiple interviews or conversations, internships, or volunteer activities.
  • Communities 8.2: Making and exchanging videotapes, newsletters, photographs and artwork and discussing them orally or in letters and e-mail with students in another community in Massachusetts, the United States, or another country.
